There are several ways to set pulley, most will get you within 1/8" of being dead on-with an adj carpenters square, put frame of square against side rail of tractor, slide ruler till end lines up with center line of trans pulley, lock square, put square on side rail at front of tractor under shaft & slide pulley in or out till end lines up with center line of eng pulley or take a straight edge & put on centerline of pulleys or a piece of rope rope around both pulleys & eyeball or measure distance from side rail or if there are any marks on old eng shaft from pulley measure distance from face of pulley to end of shaft. The shoulder of pulley does ride very close to block,as far as clutch, adj rod to set cleareance between clutch plate & bell usually has more than enough thread on it for adj even if you're a 1/4" out on eng pulley measurement.
