The manure spreader I'm thinking of is pretty small, about 20 cu ft, not much bigger than my 17 cu ft utility cart that I've used with my current mower to clean barns for four years.
I wasn't planning to overload the spreader since overloading makes it more difficult to spread the manure evenly, though I must confess that I will probably have to fight that tendency to overload anyway.
I'd really rather not get a larger tractor, per se, due to soil compaction problems from constant mowing.
I've been investigating the Simplicity Conquest garden tractor... looks pretty good, though substantially more $$:
