Without knowing mod# of eng & weather manual or electric start and type of equip it's mounted on(tractor, snow blower etc),I would say right now 1 wire goes to points and other goes to alt coil,in any case You are going to have to pull flywheel, check leads, that both are intact under flywheel & reinsulate, point wire is probably touching & shorting to block, this is why you have no spark, this wire can be replaced between points & coil or reinsulated, alt lead will have to be reinsulated, best way to repair without turning into a major project is goto an auto parts store or radio shack and get a 4' length or less of heat shrink tubing of a size approx 1/2 again the od of the largest of the 2 wires(tubing will shrink to 1/2 it's diam when heated)you might have to clip connectors off ends of wire to slide tubing on & install new one's after you shrink.
