This is probably not the problem, but check the transmission over-ride lever to make certain that it wasn't pulled by mistake. (The over-ride is used to manually push a hydrostaic in the event the engine isn't running, and if it's still pulled out, will not allow the engine to drive the transmission.)
The other possibility is that the drive idler pulley spring has broken and the drive belt does not sufficient tension to drive teh transmission. (Wiggle the drive belt and make certain it's under heavy tension.)
