kevin i have an older 12 hp mower i opened the cover where you shift gears and found a little switch that cuts engine if you leave the blades rnning go in reverse i thinks it was I took them all out or bypassed them probably not as safe but whole lot nicer to mow with . did the seat, the deck. and the reverse one they all where out eventually any way good luck
