i have a 74 sears suburban with 10 horse tecumseh cast iron...generator/belt starting engine on it. on side of engine where the multi/belt pulleys are(pto side) toward rear of engine you will find a plate with 2 screws holding it on. there will be a wire coming out of the plate/cover. underneath the plate is the points for spark. if plate/wire is not there, then you have electronic ignition type. which i have not seen on suburban 10 as of yet. remove the points and look and see if they are burnt or dirty or corooded clen them up re-install them and set gap at 020 in. then give her another try. good luck.
