I recently bought a used 1996 18.5 hp Brig/stratton eng on a 42" MTD riding lawn mower and am having ignition problems, I just found out I had a bad starter, but that is not the whole problem. I would love to see a scematic that shows how my mower should be wired to work. I am looking at redoing the wiring to bring it to the live level with just the bare bones. I would like to understand what is involved in starting over with a different ignition switch. My starter has the one large wire conected to the starter and two wires (white, and red/blk) that run in to the center of the mower, and one black wire that feeds the distributor or what ever the thing is that is around the center on the side of the top, it's like a magnetic. Is there a scematic for the idiot that would make sence to me. Thanks. Ted
