In Reply to: Whining noise from hydrostatic transmission on New Craftsman LT2000 Lawn tractor posted by steve on Saturday, April 12, 2003:
Sounds like a common problem with Craftsmen. I just bought a new GT 5000 with Hydrostatic drive and found the same noise but I did not purge the Transmission. I called the service center and Gary told me to pull out the push mode shaft and run the mower in and out of forward and reverse to purge air from the fluid. I have not tried this yet but will this afternoon.
