From my experience, Craftsman make a good tractor but a poor deck. The sheet metal in the deck is much lighter than John Deere and if they are not kept clean, they will rust out in a few years. Most people neglect this item but if you do take care of it, it should last you for years. I have an older John Deere and an older Craftsman. The Craftsman was given to me because the deck rotted out. The previous owner just went out and bought a new machine. I have a blade on it for snow in the winter and grading in the summer. I also use it with a trailer, roller and areator. It's very handy to have the second machine and the price was right.
