As long as the surface is snow, chains are Ok , if you run chains on bare paved or gravel surface not a good idea. Do you have 4wd and R1 tires? the R-4's or turf tires do not work well in the snow, and then you need chains. Use on the rear preferably. Lots of types of chains available. some cheaper than others. You get what you pay for or create your own from truck tire chains.
