I don't want to be a smart ass, but are you turning it the right way. 250lb of torque on a filter is a bit much. Especially that this filter should have been removed and replaced previously in the tractor's life. It should have been hand tightened originally. My car dealer wrenched my oil filter on my car beyond specs and almost locked it on, I could not get it off, they had to take a very large wrench to get it off, I was not happy, even though they did not charge me to get it off, like I said most filters are put on with 10-20 lbs of torque. Hand torque. Counterclockwise to remove.
Hope you don't set your tractor on fire.
