The clicking I think is the fuel shut off valve.
Holding the switch in the position to make it
run is suppling current to the shut off valve.
When you let the switch go to the run position
and it dies, is because no current is going to
the shut off valve. You may find a switch problem or fuse blown, and also could be a wire
connection at the switch. Just my guess, maybe
this will be a start for you.
