Sounds like you have it all together. Rebuilding
the engine is like any other engine. You need to
know what your doing or you will goof it up.
Try the thermostat, if that don't work, pull
the water pump and check the impellor or pump
blades to see if they are rotted away. If the
water pump is good, then look at the head gasket. Replaceing the head gasket will not
mean or require a engine rebuild.
Now for the first thing you should do and I
should have mentioned. Make sure the radiator
is clean, no trash in the flues where the air
is blocked from going through it. Then make
sure the coolant flow through the radiator is
free flowing, by removing the lower hose and
insert the garden hose in the cap area and give
it a go with the water flow thing.
