there is nothing wrong with using 15-40wt oil in your 6040 .i have a 9540 ibought new 5/08 with 3hrs on it.my tractor has 1100hrs today and has had rotella t 15/40 from the 50hr factory specified service and has never used 1 pint of oil.by the way i have 3406e in my hay truck that i put the same oil in ,it has 830,000 miles on the odometer and uses 1gallon between changes. (it holds 15 gallons)
