You might add 1/4 oz of regular dot 3 brake
fluid to a fresh oil change. The brake fluid
will soften the seals back to where they will
work. Don't add any more at all. to much will
destroy the seals. I read this on a earlier
post about a oil leak at the rear main. My
tractor and my truck both were leaking at this
seal. I did the 1/4 oz brake fluid to the engine
oil and ran them both, it worked, but it takes
a little time. The next oil change don't add
it again. Way later if it does it again then
you can repeat the process. This only works if
the seal isn't broken or torn up, just hard
and not sealing against the crank shaft.
