Also want to say small Diesels need correct torque on head/ valve cover bolts just like any other engine. A water pump is not hardly needed on this engine, in fact many 2 cylinder Kubota Diesels did not have a water pump and they did not overheat. It is possible the water pump vanes are corroded away but unlikely unless someone totally abused the coolant system and never used any corrosion proof anti-freeze in it.
