I believe if you turn your starting knob to the left you will get glow plug heating, 10-30 sec should do the trick then turn the starting knob to right to start. The glow plugs are not hard to miss, they almost look like spark plugs on the side of the head. A diesel without preheating with glow plugs is very difficult to start.
