i have seen this a few times. usually the fuel tank implodes (sucks itself in)if you pop the dash out by prying at the indent locations around the perimeter you will see the tank sucked in. usual complaint is fuel guage not working. the main cause is plugged tank vent in the cap . remove the cap and look and see if a white plastic ring is under the rubber. a new tank comes with an improved cap.
