I have a L3000, gear drive. The finish mower
runs at 540 pto rpm. The engine will be running
at about 2400 rpm. Check your mower operating
rpm, never heard of one at 400. I guess with
todays new ideas it's possible. I usually run
at 2000 engine rpm which will cut down the pto
rpm i'm guessing around 450/475???. A little
slower keeps my rear wheels from spinning on
turns and digging up the grass.
On most tractors the engine work speed is
around 1800 to 2500 rpm depending on what your
doing or just how you want to use it.
