Air is bled from an open hydraulic system by actuating the cylinders. That's fancy mechanic's terms for "use the bucket and the air goes away". By your description, I would be checking the pins and bushings for excess wear or the pistons for internal damage. Perhaps overloading the bucket damaged the packings.
