Not sure how your connection is made. I had
a finish mower that had a pin like your talking
about. You pushed the spring loaded pin down
far enough to release and pull the shaft away
from the tractor. Problem is, you don't feel
anything or know when the pin is far enough
down to unlock, you just have to push the pin
down at different levels and pull the shaft
until it slides off. You will see how it works
after it's off. There is a grove alway around
the pto shaft, the spring loaded pin fits in
that grove to lock. There is a narrow place in
the pin that will match up with the fat part of
the pto, to let it slide off the shaft. The best
I remember, the spring loaded pin had to be
pushed all the way down, and at times I had to
peck it with a wood block a little to get it
all the way down because of rust or dirt. I didn't have to unscrew any kind of set screw.
