Hummm.
In 1999 I bought a new, chrysler which now has 185k miles, for sake of argument and ease of number crunching new it got 27 mpg 100% of the time now gets 24 mpg 100% of time.
for argument sake loss of 1.12 % fuel efficiency over 185k miles with normal maintence, proper oil etc.
Yet they claim up to 20% improvement in fuel efficiency.
which may take up to 6 mos to realize and additionally state that to maximize fuel effeciency tire inflation, and maintence must be maintained. (wonder why)
Math is not my strong point so lets make this simple, assume that each week for the last 9 years of ownership I filled the car and each week the gas fillup was 20 gal and the cost of gas remained at $3.50/gal or $32,760.00 for the 9 yrs
I found 50 tabs at 55$ = 1.10/tab 1 tab per tank raised cost of fill up (20x3.50) from 70.00 to 71.10/per week . or changed cost of fuel+add to 3.55/gal total of $33,462.00 in 9 yrs
Lets believe that insted of losing 1.12 % efficiency I maintained at the original new mileage because of the tabs
185k miles divided by $33462.00 = .1808756 /mile
with tabs
185k miles divided by 32,760.00 = .177081 /mile no tabs
I ain't seeing a savings for me, and making someone else money.
Puts me in mind of another that was basically a ponzi scheme, and the product was moth crystals.
but hey I'm just a hillbilly. IMHO
