Thanks for your input Tom. Since my last posting, my husband "corrected" me. It wasn't a new pump, but a new control valve he put on it. So, I asked him what things he had done...so here goes.
1st: the orginal control valve was rebuilt because the bucket only only lowered in the float position. 2nd: he changed the oil and filter. 3rd: he removed, greased and cleaned all pivot pins. 4th: he got the new control valve. 5th: he checked cylinders for blow thru by dead-heading them. 6th: he checked psi; psi at 1500/1700; shimmed relief with .026 shim and got 2000 psi.7th: he removed quick disconnects and put standard steel couplings. 8th: he blew air thru all bucket hoses and then replaced a bad drain hose that was kinked and frayed. Currently, the boom only drops in the float position. I don't know if anyone can help us or not, but he is at his wits end on this. I should have not been so "cheap" and just let him buy a new one, but it's too late now. We've got too much money tied up in this one. Thanks for your time.
