Thank you for your responses. It turns out that the hydraulic pump seal had failed and that was allowing hydraulic fluid into the crankcase. I had caused the failure by removing the snow blade and hydraulics but leaving the lever pointed forward after I had plugged the holes leading to the removed hydraulic lines. I am new to this so most of you would know better but just in case someone might make the same error-now you know. I wondered why the manual showed a plate over the lever locking it in place..... Anyway, thanks again for the help.
