While mowing, I had been pondering this problem with the fuel. Lately, I have been letting the pump run for 30 seconds before starting, as the book suggests. The starving episodes have slowed down.
However, I figured the problem was history when, about 1/2 mile down into the canyon, there began a rattling sound that was in the bad catagory. I envisioned a new BX 2230, or whatever they are up to now, and no more fuel problems!!
I looked for any cracked cases, but no discovery.
I was able to limp back up the hill, with the fuel feed down low. When I got up to the shop, I found that the back u-joint had sheared the spring pin with no other damage.
So, while the mower is off, I'll do the testing for clogged filters and fuel delivery.
I was thinking of believable reasons to explain why we needed a new tractor.
More later.
