Hello Everyone!
I stumbled upon this site in a search for info regarding the Kubota B5100E...and I am very impressed and grateful for the shared knowledge as I looked at various posts. I'm looking forward to hearing from some of you (Kubota Doc, Jason, farmm, etc)...you folks clearly know what you are talking about! Anyway...here we go...
I recently bought a 1 acre property w/a rather large but moderate slope (slope/hill cuts the property in half). Given the age of my joints, my pushmower is no longer an option and I'm searching for a decent used lawn / garden tractor to mow the yard but not spend too much because the budget is tight.
My neighbor has a B5100E 2WD Diesel for sale with a rear mower & snow blade attachment - I think the snow blade is front mount but I'm not 100% on that. It appears the mower is hydraulic lift...but I didn't look too closely due to rain / snow & no one home. Research indicates this model was first introduced in 1978 but no info avail for an end-production date. The body and tires look pretty good - virtually no rust etc. The seat is beat up a bit but not to a degree that would make me raise my eyebrows.
Here are my limited-knowledge questions:
1. Am I looking at the right size & type of tractor for my little bit of paradise?
2. Were there any serious problems with this particular model? i.e. engine performance, power, hydraulics
3. What are some fair ball-park sales figures for this model & accompanying equipment? I am leery of e-bay prices because they are often over-inflated for other items.
4. Does this model have a tiller attachment capability? If so, what do I look for on the tractor and with regard to actual attachment model?
5. Can a lawn sweeper / bagger attachment be used? Again, what do I look for & what specific attachment?
6. If the engine is original, how many hours are too many? Same question if it has been rebuilt.
I appreciate any and all assistance from those of you who visit this forum and have the knowledge! Thank you for your time! I look forward to hearing from someone soon...
