Sounds to me like tractor air intake is cloged up. No air - no run. Same as no fuel - no run. Loose air flow to intake and it will die suddenly. Snow? Dirt in air filter will close off air and motor will die and not start. Also, if shut-off switch is accidently pushed in, motor will die and not start. Could also be fuel pump failure. Not likely!
