In Reply to: JD212 1986, Can't keep belt on, Help posted by Jeff D on Sunday, August 26, 2001:
: I have had this 212 for the past 8 years with very few problems, But duing the past couple years I have experienced numerous problems with the belt that drives the mower deck. It keeps coming off which destroys it. So far I have totally rebuilt the deck and replaced the bushings and idler pulleys on the tractor. Belt will stay on for a while then it seems to start vibrating and comes off. At $18 a belt, trial and error becomes expensive. Any suggestions? Thanks
Jeff: Make sure the belt keepers are on and in the right position to keep the belt from slipping off the pully's. See if the pullies are bent and causing jumping of the belt and make sure they are tight enough with the front adjustment screw. There are a couple suggestions------Jerry
