3010 syncro, won't shift

the top cover has been removed and there appears to
be a piece of metal (part of the park spring???)wedged
against the roller in the middle shifting cam. Has
anyone that a problem like this? So far have been
unable to remove-- it's a tough place to get to!!, half
way down the transmission case, can only get to it
with the end of a wire. Can see the obstruction using
a pen-light, looking through the shifting rails and
gears. Any suggestions, short of completely dismantling
thins transmission?
