I have an '89 model that is hard starting. I just figured it was the Jap engine. I have learned to give it full choke, grind five seconds and then try again. It usually starts on the second grind. It starts with no choke if it has been started within a three day period. Aside from the slow start, it has been a good piece of equipment. I have only had to replace two ignition systems, two sets of blades and four batteries in the past sixteen years.
