Duane, first things first, if you hit a pipe and the mower was at full speed and then came to a sudden stop you may have bent something or broke a bearing on the mower deck. you need to disengage the mower and turn each blade by hand, in doing this you will find the one that hit the pipe(it will be the one with a bent blade or bad nick)then work your way back to the the engine looking for distorted hangers, engaging devices ect. As far as the engine is concerned, funny things happen to engines that come to a dead stop after running full speed or even idoling, bent cranks, bent valves, broken moon keys on the fly wheel causing the engine to be out of time. In order to best determine what you situation is we need more info. Type of engine, type of saftey devices(switches), most tractors have one under the seat, one on the mower deck assembly( so it wont start if the mower is engaged), one on the gear shift, one on the brake peddle or clutch peddle. If I was a betting man I would bet on the broken moon key, did it ever back fire or sputter when you started it after the incodent? does it have a hard time turning over
