: i am worknig on a 630 john deere that is giving me a headache, the deal is that i put a new manifold gasket in it and to do that i took everything off of it, including gas tank, radiator, power steering pump, everything off the front end, anyways, when i got it back together the power steering acts like its not even working, i was told by a john deere mechanic to use power steering fluid in it and my dad said on his old 620 he put transmission fluid in it and it worked better, ???? any ideas woudl be appreciated, thanks alot

Chris, it is more than likley that you have air in the pump( or line ) that runs the power steering. In most cases it will work itself out with use.
