: : I've got a 3010 that has a noisy hydraulic pump that runs the power steering and brakes, fuild level seems fine, occasionaly quits pump. Is this pump in need of a rebuild?

: It may be, but first I would check to see that oil is getting to the pump. there is a small pump in the transmission (actually right by the differential) that supplies oil to the transmission gears and the main hydraulic pump. You may want to check the output from that pump first.

: You may also want to check if you are getting air in your pump. This can indicate a leak on the inlet side of the pump. check for this by looking at the oil that is left in the coupler after you have unhooked a remote cylinder that you have been useing. If the oil has lots of tiny air bubbles in it, you may have a leak.

: Another thing that you can do is to change the hydraulic oil filter. There is also a screen on the inlet to the low pressure pump in the transmission that could be plugged.

: When the pump stops working, does that happen at random or only when you first start it up?

The pump usually does not work when the tractor is first started, a few seconds later or an increase in throttle and the pumps starts.

Thanks Lloyd for the information, will change out the hydraulic fluid and filter and see if there is any improvement.
