In Reply to: Scotts Lawn Tractor Stalls when Engaged posted by Frank on Monday, July 23, 2001:
: My Scotts 2048 Lawn Tractor, manufactured by John Deere, starts just fine, but stalls immediately when the brake is released or the PTO for the mower deck is engaged. It's acting as it would if I were not sitting in the seat and the kill switch kicks in.
: Has anyone had this problem or have any suggestions on fixing it?
: Thanks,
: Frank
It does sound like the seat switch is bad or wiring within this circuit. It is a closed loop design. To see if the switch is bad, unplug the seat harness and short across the two terminals with a piece of wire. If it works ok the switch is bad. Otherwise check the wiring.
