I bought a Scotts 2048 two weeks before the John Deere L120 came out. It is the identical machine mechanically the only difference is the hood and the green paint. I looked all over and finally found the last L120 in Houston and I saved three hundred bucks.(green paint is expensive). I have had no problems whatsoever and I have almost 100 hours on it. I pull a 4x8 four wheeler trailer with it after putting a 2" hitchball on the back all over my yard full of mulch, branches, trash, etc, and it never misses a beat. It cuts great and runs great with plenty of power but not too much power that you will never need. Needless to say I dont plow snow with it but I'm sure it would have no problems doing so with the blade and chains. John Deere is not going to put their name(and paint) on an inferior product as one of your other respondents said because they have too much to lose if they did so. I love the automatic transmission instead of the manual also. It is smooth and you shift from forward to reverse and back mowing the entire yard and never have to take yours hands off the wheel(or your beer). One of my neighbors has the scott's 1742 and loves it except for the manual transmission and another neighbor has the L120 and he loves it also. If you want to spend the extra money on the LT its yours to spend, but I researched the scotts/L120 for several months and I am glad I went with the L120. Bang for the buck you can't beat it.
