I have a 1991 STX 38 yellow deck lawn tractor that runs fine for the first 5-10 minutes of mowing, then will die out for no apparent reason. I am able to restart the engine immediately but it will continue to stall after a short time after engaging the mower deck. I thought it might be a fuel problem so I drained the tank, changed the inline fuel fiter and blew out all of the fuel lines. Still, the problem continued. I replaced the seat switch thinking that could be the problem. The intermittent stalling still persisted. Is there another switch that could be faulty causing the problem (like the PTO switch)? Or, am I looking in the wrong direction? Any help would be appreciated.
