I've got a wheelhorse with an ONAN twin cyl. engine and had problems with lack of fuel. Would run if I poured gas into the carb. I found the fuel pump runs off the crankcase pressure or vacuum and the problem was the hose off the back of the fuel pump (a little rectangular block with 4 ports on the ends, 2 are plugged) was loose. I took the pump apart and the diaphragm wasn't leaking so I cleaned it and put it back together and it works. The carb. I didn't touch as one has to pull the intake manifold off to get to the bolts that hold the carb on the bottom. I did have to richen up the small needle valve to get the right mixture so the engine would run w/o tha choke on.
I may be off base re the engine you have but it's a thought.
