Brian - You really can't overtighten the adjustment, since both nuts on the draft arm sit against opposite sides of a solid metal bracket.
If you don't have the deck raised up slightly in the rear, you will end up with a lousy cut. At least that was my experience with my old 320 and 48" deck.
Once you have these adjustments made, it should not be something you have to adjust too often. It's been two years and my 50" deck is still holding. - Dave
