You have identified the exact problem that I have on a 4-wheel drive 6310 with a 43 gallon plastic fuel tank - same history of suspecting the fuel cap, etc. In a recent day in the field, I lost about 1/3 of the diesel from a full tank by spillage. The tractor is about 5 years old with less than 300 hours! There is no question that this is a design flaw (I am an active mechanical/aerospace engineer with 40+ years experience). The dealer listened but apparently is unable to help. Surely we can get someone's attention at John Deere without resorting to legal action.
