: I have a John Deere 425 that I purchased new in 1993. It runs great in the winter but in the summer when the engine gets hot it spits and sputters and won't re-start when I stop mowing for a while. When I take off the air cleaner I can see the gas boiling in the carb. because it gets so hot from the muffler. Just for kicks I put some tin foil between the carb. and the muffler. It helped but I a bit disappointed that I paid thousands for a tractor and need tin foil to help it run right in the summer. My local service guys just look at like I'm nuts. A co-worker has the same tractor with exactly the same problem. Any ideas on how to fix this beast?
