Hi: I don't know specifically about your backhoe, but it's pretty much the same(with small variations depending on mach.) The bleeder valves on the pump will eliminate the air in line from tank only. If you can loosen a couple of the lines at the injector & crank over the engine or use the manual pump you described then you will get fuel up to the injectors & it will start. Your eng. I believe is a 4 cyl.with metal lines,(they are easier to work with) but if it has the small rubber hoses atthe injectors then loosen the clamps and pump up the fuel,re-tighten & start it.
