In Reply to: Cracked Block on JD 185(17 hp Kawasaki) posted by Illini Bob on Tuesday, September 23, 2003:
Are you sure it is a cracked block? I had my 185 blow the main gaskit du to exsesive blow-by and it shot oil and sounded like hell till it quit running, never to start again. I have pulled it completely apart and it and am going to rebuild it, I think. I am going to check on rings and gaskits this week. This is our kids mower as my wife likes to mow with the JD 425. We mow around 12 acers every other week. She did it with the 185 for years. I would buy another 185 it I could find a deal. (running or not)
