To adjust the variator, place the lever in the 5th notch, and loosen the bolt underneath the variator slector arm. Remove the spark plug wire and turn the engine over several times until the clutch pedal rises as high as it can. Center the locking bolt and tighten it. If the variator still doesn't function properly, you'll have to adjust the clutch from underneath the tractor. This proceedure is found in the factory repair manual.
