Randy - Sorry to see you are having problems. If you are getting chatter out of the hydro unit, because the outer rear wheel travels farther than the inner rear wheel on a turn, it could be a flow problem; or it could be a mechanical problem.
First thing I would do is make a trip to the JD dealer and pick up a filter for the hydro unit, along with 6 quarts of JD Low Viscosity Hy Gard (hydraulic fluid). I don't know if the 330 has a sight glass at the rear of the tractor or not. If it does, you may want to pick up some new tubing for that sight glass, since that stuff seems to age and get brittle.
Note: The old fluid may be red in color, if it is, most likely the original stuff. The new fluid is a light amber in color. That's not a problem, as long as you drain and change the filter before adding the amber fluid.
Warm the tractor up, shut it down, pull the hydro filter and drain the case on the hydro unit. You may also want to check the flow valves (usually located up on top of the case at the rear of the tractor). See if they easily open and close. There's a plunger on top. If not, you may be in need of new ones (about $80 a pop!). These control the direction of fluid flow.
Replace the plug in the bottom of the hydro case, fill the new filter 2/3 full of clean hydro fluid, spin on and hand tighten. Then start adding the rest of the fluid until full.
To get the air out of the system, operate the hydraulic control levers.
Hope that helps. If not, you may have a major problem. Good luck - Dave
