My Onan 316 was starting hard, lacked power, running rough...I installed new points...the old points were burned and barely opening (I think this was the biggest problem)... oil gasket under the points was cracked (replaced it)...While air induction parts were off I did a good cleaning (removed mouse nest on top of engine)...oiled carb linkage parts...working during the northeast blackout made the job a little extra hard (no lights or shop vac)...the mechanic at Action Rental Ann Arbor Michigan gave me some tips that helped me
My machine runs acceptable now...I came to this web site to learn more...try for perfection
