Stx's are prone to a loose ground wire on the frame check that first. Ignition switches are only $10-$15 and the best way to check it is with one that works, although I don't think the switch is your problem. You may have a battery with a shorted cell, you can take your battery to you JD dealer or any automotive shop for that matter and they can test your battery, good luck!
