Several times my clutch has seized up on my 870 diesel. The dealer says it's moisture in the air affecting the clutch plate material JD used after asbestos was banned, and the "fix" is to keep a 2x4 in the pedal to hold it down and keep the clutch plate open when the tractor's parked. I forgot the 2x4 recently and now can't get the clutch to work. Can anyone help? I need it unstuck, but I don't want to damage anything, or spend hundreds. Also, it sure seems that after I spent about $12,000 for this tractor new, Deere ought to do better than this!
