John Deere 1010 Power Steering Problem

I have 1962 1010 for about 6 years and had nothing but
problem with the power steering gear box. Rest of the
tractor has been great. Keeps breaking the two pins on
levershaft. I have heard a few comments about this
being a common problem.Has anyone developed a good
solution. Thinking about trying to adopt a different
gear box to tractor. Found one in McMasters Catology
that may fit with a little modifications.
