Dave - Unfortunately, there are not too many sources for 318 starters. You can try a Cummins/Onan dealer, but I'm guessing it will be almost as expensive as John Deere. Another option might be to see if someone can rebuild it, but that might be tough also. Once in awhile they show up on eBay, but I can't vouch for that resource. The other bad side of the equation is, the engine has to be pulled in order to change it! That hurts almost as much as the cost of the starter. Good luck. - Dave
