: : I just got a new 455 with a 60" deck but the blades cut out when you backup does anyone know how to unhook this safety feature so they will stay running
: It is a pain but if you pull the PTO switch before you stop it will stay engaged but you need to keep pulling until you go forward again. I would guess the switch could be modified. I will do it this spring. Hope this was helpful Jim K.
The switch is located just forward of the rear axle on the right hand side of the tractor, inside of the frame rail. Roll the rear wheels up on ramps and you have to get under it. It is white, and barely visible. Two screws through the frame rail mount it. Disconnect the wiring harness from the switch and then put a jumper in the harness to connect the two wires.
The switch is made to open in reverse, thus killing the PTO. The switch is NO. There is a lever which holds it in the closed and connected position.
